Mechanism Of Action Of Fexofenadine

  • H1 histamine receptor antagonist; competes for H1-receptor sites in target cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract.
  • Non-sedative third generation

Therapeutic Indications Of Fexodine Tablets

  • Fexofenadine is used for the relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery, red eyes and itchy nose and throat.
  • It is also being used to treat hives.

Method Of Administration Of Fexodine Tablets

  • Take as indicated by your doctor.
  • Do not take with fruit juice.
  • Take with a full glass of water.
  • One 60 mg tablet every 12 hours or one 120 mg- 180 mg tablet once daily
  • Preferred to be taken at bedtime
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor\'s or pharmacist\'s instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Fexodine Tablets

  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor before taking this medicine
  • Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Common Cold
  • Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
  • Try to breathe moist air. Use a humidifier or take a steamy shower.
  • Consume warm fluids (soup or tea) to provide relief for a stuffy nose and to loosen phlegm.
  • Eat a well-balanced diet. If you cannot, ensure you are getting enough nutrients by taking a daily multivitamin.
  • Avoid dairy products, as they can thicken phlegm.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Fexodine Tablets

  • Do not take Fexofenadine: If you’re allergic to the active substances or any other component of this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:
  1. If you have phenylketonuria.
  2. If you have kidney problems.
  3. Are 65 years of age or older.
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
  • Antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium hydroxide may alter the effectiveness of Fexofenadine.
  • Separate by 2 hours.

Storage Conditions Of Fexodine Tablets

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
