What Duloxetine is used for:
Duloxetine is used to treat:
- Depression
- Generalized anxiety disorder (chronic feeling of anxiety or nervousness)
- Diabetic neuropathic pain (stabbing pain caused by advanced diabetes)
Do not take Duloxetine:
- If you’re allergic to the active substances or any other component of this medicine.
- If you have liver disease.
- If you have severe kidney disease.
- If you are taking or have taken within the last 14 days a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).
- If y are taking Fluvoxamine, Ciprofloxacin or Enoxacin.
Warnings and precautions:
- Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:
- If you are taking other medicines to treat depression.
- If you have kidney problems.
- If you have had seizures (fits).
- If you have other mental problems.
- If you have eye problems, such as certain kinds of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
- If you have a history of bleeding disorders.
- If are currently being treated with another medicine which may cause liver damage.
- It may take 2-4 weeks for the medicine’s effects to show.
- This medicine may cause suicidal thoughts, especially in young patient.
- If you have thoughts of harming or killing yourself at any time, contact your doctor or go to a hospital straight away.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you
develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin;
wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing,
swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth,
face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Serious side effects:
- Suicidal thoughts
- Serotonin syndrome
