Beta-sitosterol is one of several phytosterols (plant sterols).
The concept of this therapy is to expose the wound to a physiological
moist environment to enhance the natural healing process, whereby
keratinocyte migration, angiogenesis, and interaction with growth
factors are facilitated.
Therapeutic Indications of Avomeb Extra
Its indications are:
First-degree burns are burns that involve only the top layer of the
skin and are mild in origin and usually heal rapidly (e.g. sunburn).
Second-degree burns are superficial and deeper burns that may not
require skin grafting (removal of skin from one area to the affected
area) if properly treated with this medicine.
Third-degree burns (burns that affect deep layers of the skin
sometimes reaching the tendons, bones, and muscles), to reduce the
painful skin area and prepare it for nonsurgical debridement and
grafting.
To reduce pain in a donor site (skin area from which a shaving of
your skin is taken to be grafted and used in your wounded skin area) and
to control the risk of infection in that site enhancing skin recovery.
Surgical wounds include obstetrical (due to childbirth and its related processes) wounds.
Method of Administration of Avomeb Extra
Apply a thin layer of the product to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily if the area is not covered, and twice daily.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor\'s or pharmacist\'s instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects of Avomeb Extra
Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
rash, itching, red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and chest tightness.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Avomeb Extra
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or
are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice
before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Avomeb Extra
Stop the medication right away and talk to your doctor or pharmacist
if you develop any allergic or skin reactions to any of the ingredients
present in this ointment such as Skin itchiness, skin redness, shortness
of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood
pressure, and dizziness.
This medicine is designed for external topical use only. Do not swallow this product.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, do not use it for other purposes.
Do not repeat the same prescription without talking to your doctor first.
